REC 463 Senior Practicum REC 463 allows students a gradual and smooth transition from the classroom
to the workplace. Students must always be supervised by a full-time staff
member of the agency and should select an internship appropriate to their
curriculum option, personal needs, and career goals. 2. Provide an opportunity for practitioners in the field to serve the profession and cooperate in the preparation of new professionals. 3. Provide an avenue of communications between recreation and leisure service agencies and the University. 4. Provide the student with experiences which will provide a more complete understanding of the role of agencies offering recreation opportunities and leisure services. 5. Provide students with a practical experience in which to plan and build a future career as a professional employee. 6. Provide the student with a practical setting to put into actual practice the knowledge and understanding acquired in the University course work, previous fieldwork, and related professional experiences. 7. Provide the student with a setting which will allow the opportunity to discover professional strengths and weaknesses.
